Medical Insurance

The Employees Retirement System (ERS) offers medical insurance to benefits eligible employees.

There is a 60-day waiting period that begins the first day of the month following the employee's hire date.

HealthSelect

HealthSelect, administered by BlueCross BlueShield, is a point-of-service (POS) plan that allows employees:

• To select physicians and specialists from a network of doctors for a co-payment of $25 or $40,
  or
• To go outside of the network at an increased cost.

Consumer Directed HealthSelect

Consumer Directed HealthSelect is also administered by BlueCross BlueShield. 

You do not need to:

• Designate a primary care physician
• Get a referral to see a specialist

Features

Annual Deductible

You pay the full cost of doctor visits, prescriptions and other health care costs until you reach the annual deductible. 

Health Savings Account (HSA)

You must open an HSA with Optum Bank.
