Apply as an International Transfer (F-1 Visa) Student

You are an international transfer student if you are currently attending another U.S. institution as an F-1 student and plan to transfer your SEVIS record to TCC.

To be eligible for transfer, your SEVIS record must be in active status.

Before You Apply

Programs with Restrictions

Some of TCC's academic programs have restrictions for F-1 visa students. Before you choose your program, review programs with restrictions.

Selective Admission Programs

TCC's selective admissions programs have a secondary admissions process. If you apply for a selective admissions program, you must submit your program acceptance letter before we can issue an I-20 for your program.

While you prepare to apply for your program, you can start your studies in our Associate of Arts or Associate of Science programs.

F-1 visa students are not eligible to enroll in TCC's Basic Peace Officer certification.

Deadline for Application Packet

Your completed application packet must be submitted before the deadline.

Due to the length of our Summer term, International Student Admissions & Compliance strongly recommends you plan to start your studies in Fall or Spring semesters/terms.

Semester/Term Application Packet Deadline
Spring Term (January–May) Before November 15
Summer Term (June–August) Before April 15
Fall Term (August–December) Before July 15

Documents Required for Application Packet

The following documents A-F are required for your application packet.

A. International (F-1 Visa) Student Admissions Application

There are two options for TCC student admissions applications.

Option 1: Online Admissions Application (Preferred)

Apply online with ApplyTCC (use Firefox or Chrome browser for the best experience)

You will receive an email with a TCC student ID number after you complete the online application. This does not mean you have been admitted to TCC or can register for classes.

Your official F-1 transfer acceptance letter will be emailed to you from the International Student Admissions & Compliance Office.

Option 2: Paper Admissions Application

If you are not able to apply online, complete the International Student Admissions Application (PDF)Listen. Include this PDF in your complete application packet.

B. Official Transcripts

Transcripts are submitted differently from the rest of the information in your packet.

U.S. Transcripts

These are transcripts from all U.S. high schools or colleges/universities you have attended.

You must have a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good academic standing at your most recently attended college/university.

To submit your U.S. transcripts, follow our steps for submitting your official transcripts.

Foreign Transcripts

If you are either:

  • In your first semester at a U.S. college/university, or
  • Transferring from a high school or an ESL-only program,

you must request that an AICE or NACES agency submit a General Evaluation of your foreign high school diploma/transcript to TCC. Learn how to request and submit a transcript General Evaluation.

If you have questions about the possibility of receiving credit for college/university coursework from outside the U.S., visit our Transcript Evaluation page for more information about international transcript evaluations.

C. English Language Proficiency Scores

A copy of your passing scores must be submitted in PDF format.

Review TCC's English proficiency score requirements.

D. Financial Documents

The financial documents must be submitted in PDF format.

Forms must have all information completed, be signed by the appropriate parties, and be submitted by the deadline.

What are the financial requirements to study at TCC?

Account(s) must have a total minimum balance of $30,417 U.S. dollars for a 9-month study plan, and $32,850 U.S. dollars for a 12-month study plan (if starting in the summer).

What financial documents do I need to submit?

Submit the following documents:

  • Financial Statement (PDF)Listen: You complete. It must be physically signed by you and/or your sponsor.
  • Copy of recent bank statement: Yours and/or your sponsor's.
    • Note: If your and/or your sponsor's recent bank statement does not have funds listed in US dollars, you must provide a Bank Affidavit (PDF)Listen. Your sponsor's financial institution will complete this form.

Financial documents must be:

  • In PDF format,
  • Official, and
  • Less than 6 months old.

E. Copies of Your I-94, Passport, Visa, and Current I-20

Documents must be valid and submitted in PDF format.

Note: To be eligible for transfer, your SEVIS record must be in active status.

F. Evidence of Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination

You are not required to submit meningococcal meningitis vaccine documentation with your admissions application but, if you are admitted to TCC, you must submit it before enrolling in classes.

The vaccine paperwork must be submitted in a PDF format.

Vaccinations are only required if you are under 22 years old.

Vaccinations are valid for 5 years. Learn more about meningitis vaccinations requirements.

Submit Application Packet

Application packets must be submitted before the deadline and have all required documents. If they do not have all required documents, they will not be processed until all documents are received.

Submitting a completed application packet does not guarantee admission to the College.

Use the application packet checklist (PDF)Listen to ensure you have a completed application packet.

Options to Submit Your Application Packet

All documents submitted electronically or by postal mail become the property of TCC.
