English Language Proficiency Requirements
As an international student, you must submit passing scores for English language proficiency in order to be admitted to TCC.
What scores does TCC accept?
You must meet one of the score requirements for admission.

What if I do not have a passing score?
If you do not have a passing English language proficiency score, you may qualify for our Language Pathway Program.

Official scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to TCC International Student Admissions & Compliance.

Are there exemptions?
Yes, but documentation demonstrating the exemption must be provided with your admission application.
You may be exempt from submitting English language proficiency if you meet at least one of the following:
- Satisfied the TSI English Language Arts and Reading (TSI-A) scores (ELAR; formerly known as Reading and Writing) because you have met either:
- Completed Composition 1 (English 1301) with a grade of C or better from an accredited U.S. college or university, as shown on official transcript.
- Graduated from a U.S. high school or have the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma from a recognized secondary education institution in one of the countries listed below (item e). You must have spent at least 3 years at the U.S. high school or secondary education institution/system.
- Earned an associate degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university, or from a recognized higher education institution in one of the countries listed below (item e).
- Be a citizen of one of the following countries:
- Antigua & Barbuda
- Australia
- Bahamas, The
- Barbados
- Belize
- Bermuda
- British Virgin Islands
- Canada (except Quebec)
- Cayman Islands
- Dominica
- Grenada
- Guyana
- Ireland
- Jamaica
- Liberia
- Montserrat

- South Africa

- St. Lucia
- St. Vincent & the Grenadines
