English Language Learning Program (ELLP)
Our English Language Learning Programs (ELLP) help you improve your English for work, life, and academic success.
Can I learn English at TCC?
Yes!
TCC offers classes to help you improve your English skills, including:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Grammar
- Writing
- Vocabulary
What is the difference between ESL and ESOL?
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are beginner-level English classes. ESL classes focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening. ESL classes prepare you to go to work, get a promotion, and develop confidence with your English.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes help you prepare for college classes. ESOL classes focus on reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary and grammar.
How do I register for English classes?
We offer 3 different programs:
- English as a Second Language (ESL): Learn English for work or to build confidence.
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): Improve your English to prepare for college classes. You must meet placement test requirements to be eligible.
- Language Pathway Program (LPP): Meet English proficiency score requirements if you are an F-1 visa student.
Choose the program that fits your goals and learn how to get started.
Is financial aid available for English classes?
If you are taking ESL classes, you can get help paying for these classes through the Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG).
If you are taking ESOL classes, you can apply for FAFSA.
