About Us
eLearning at TCC is celebrating 48 years of excellence. Our program is committed to providing the highest quality of distance education for you in an innovative environment with a wide range of academic possibilities.
Our eLearning program began in the fall of 1973 with 2 courses delivered via instructional television. Almost 800 students enrolled in the 2 courses, which immediately demonstrated interest in a flexible and convenient way to take courses.
In the spring of 1989, TCC began offering computer-delivered instruction (CDI) courses, now known as online courses.
Phenomenal growth has occurred over time—making distance education at TCC one of the largest programs in Texas.
In 2003, TCC launched a customized learning management system for hosting online classes.
Then, in 2011, we converted our online system to Blackboard Learn™, which was launched in Fall 2012 as the myTCC portal. This portal is the gateway to online classes, support and other electronic teaching and learning resources.
In the summer of 2021, TCC began the transition from Blackboard to Canvas and fully implemented it in the fall.
