How to Get PLA Credit: Military / Veteran Service & Training
Apply your military / veteran service & training experience to your degree or certificate program.
We work together in the PLA process:
- You
- Your Veterans Advisor/Counselor
- Your Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA)
- District Admissions and Records Office
- District Academic Support Services Office
- You
- Check to see if you are eligible to request PLA credit before beginning the PLA process
- You (if eligible)
- Order your Joint Services Transcript (JST)
- District Admissions and Records Office
- Processes your JST (and other transcripts)
- Awards credit automatically for KINE-1164 Introduction to Physical Fitness and Wellness
- You
- Meet with a Veterans Counselor for further review of your JST, if applicable
- Veterans Counselor
- Submits to the appropriate Department Chair and Dean as well as your VPAA for review and approval:
- Your JST
- Military guide credit recommendation
- Degree plan
- Submits to the appropriate Department Chair and Dean as well as your VPAA for review and approval:
- District Academic Support Services Office
- Approves your PLA request
- Applies course(s) to your transcript
- Notifies you via TCC email
or
- Denies your PLA request
- Notifies you via TCC email
- Approves your PLA request
- You
- Check My Progress in the Student Planning module of MyTCCTrack to confirm course(s) are posted
