A hazardous material spill or release can post a risk to life, health or property. An incident can result in the evacuation of a few people, a section of a facility, or an entire neighborhood. Review what to do in case of a building evacuation.
The Fire Department bears primary responsibility for rescue of personnel, containment and neutralization of hazardous materials spills, and for clean-up and disposal.
If a hazardous spill occurs on roadways or railways outside of the College, dial 911 or 1-800-424-8802.

Faculty/Staff Responsibilities
Make sure extreme care is taken when using hazardous materials in all processes, production stages, storage and shipment. You should know the risks associated with handling hazardous materials and have training on how to protect yourself.
You should only attempt to clean up a spill when it does not threaten human health or the environment, and if you're familiar with the hazards and requirements of the material. Wear personal protective equipment to prevent further injury and contamination.
For any spill/releases that are immediately dangerous to life or health, start evacuation procedures and contact TCCD Police Dispatch at 817-515-8911.
