The Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) Office offers certain services and resources for our deaf/hard of hearing students.

CART/Interpreter Requests

In-Class Services

Requests for CART/interpreter while you're in class are done during your first meeting with the SAR office. If you haven't requested an appointment with SAR, follow the request SAR accommodations steps.

Outside of Class Services

To request CART/interpreter for a meeting, workshop, or event, fill out the CART/Interpreter Request Form (PDF)Listen.

Submit the completed form via email to your home campus's SAR Office or the SAR Office on the campus where the meeting, workshop or event will take place

Tuition Exemption Program

As a blind and/or deaf student who is a Texas resident, you may be eligible for a tuition exemption.

The Birdville ISD scholarship is not available if you're using the tuition exemption.

Award Amount

All dues, fees, and enrollment charges whatsoever for which exemptions may be lawfully made, including:

  • Fees for correspondence courses,
  • General property deposit fees,
  • Student service fees

The exemption does not include fees or charges for

  • Lodging,
  • Board,
  • Clothing,
  • Textbooks,
  • Electronic materials through TCC Plus

You cannot use funds to pay tuition for continuing education classes for which the college receives no state tax support.

How to Apply for the Tuition Exemption

Submit your documents to the Registrar's Office before the start of your semester.

How to Keep Your Tuition Exemption

To keep your tuition exemption,

  • Complete the Exemption and Waiver Tracking Form every semester.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) every semester, including
    • Maintaining a 2.0 cumulative GPA,
    • Not exceeding 99 total credit hours, and
    • Taking classes part of your degree/certificate program.
  • Maintain a 67% completion rate (if you're also receiving financial aid).
