Youth Program Policies

Image Release

By signing the application, you are giving TCC permission to take and use visual/audio images of your child. Visual/audio images are any type of recording, including photographs, digital images, drawings, renderings, voices, sounds, video, audio clips, or accompanying written descriptions. You agree that TCC owns the images and all rights related to them and that TCC does not have to give prior notification before using them. The images may be used in any manner or media, such as publication, print ad, direct mail piece, electronic media (e.g., video, CD, DVD, Internet/www) or other form of promotion.

In addition, you release TCC and its employees and agents, including any firm authorized to publish and/or distribute a finished product containing the images, from any claim, damages, or liability which you may ever have in connection with the taking and use of the images or form of material used with the images.

Health & Medical Information

Sick Children

A child who is sick needs to stay home. Indicators are a temp of 100 degrees or higher, vomiting, or diarrhea.

COVID

TCC continues to monitor COVID-19, giving consideration to guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), state and local governments, and the advice of the TCC medical director.

Masks have never been required and continue to be optional for anyone desiring to wear one.

Liability Statement

Accidents and injuries may occur, and injury and/or loss or damage to persons or personal property may occur as a result of participation in College for Kids or other children and youth programs. Therefore, students and parents/guardians assume all risk related to participation in College for Kids or other children and youth programs (the "Programs"). The student participants in these programs and their parents/guardians (the “Releasing Parties") hereby acknowledge that Tarrant County College District ("TCCD"), its trustees, officers, employees, volunteer workers, students, agents and assigns (the "Released Parties") assume no liability whatsoever for personal injuries or property damage that may arise out of the Releasing Parties' participation in the Programs, and the Releasing Parties hereby waive and release the Released Parties from all claims, liabilities, damages, causes of action or cost of any nature or kind, known and unknown, which the Releasing Parties may suffer or incur as a result of participation in the Programs.  

Medication

TCC does not administer medication to children. We recommend administering medication during non-camp hours or you are welcome to come to campus to give the medication to your student. Asthma inhalers, EpiPens, and diabetic supplies are the only medications underage students may carry on campus.

Please make sure these vital meds are with your student. Any other medications in the possession of campers will be confiscated and the parent/guardian notified.

Emergency Contacts/Pick-up

Please include parent information in emergency contact list. List only individuals who are 18 and older. Parents/guardians/contacts need to check for calls and voice messages from TCC and promptly return calls.

Early Out Due to Injury or Illness

If you need to pick up your child early, please call your campus Lifestyle and Community Learning office and arrive at agreed time. A photo ID is required to pick up children. Your ID must match the name of a listed contact and will be copied.

Safety

We must all work together to make sure our summer of fun and excitement is not spoiled by forgetting about safety and safe behavior practices. All TCC campuses are open campuses, and generally are safe places. However, like the mall or the city park, there are no fences to keep the good guys in and the bad guys out. Please join us again this year in making it a safe experience for all. 

Participants should:

• Get a TCC student ID.
• Use the buddy system by traveling in pairs or groups. 
• Avoid suspicious persons (anyone not wearing a camp "STAFF" t-shirt).
• Always stay inside the campus or on inner campus sidewalks between buildings.
• Avoid construction areas and keep a safe distance from machinery.
• Listen to the instructions given by the instructor in the case of severe weather, building evacuation, or threatening conditions.
• Look for camp staff visibly posted in buildings and around campus to assist you. They will either be wearing College for Kids shirts or a badge that says "Ask me for Help."
• Look for campus police around campus who can assist you.
• Get a map and clearly identify the designated parking lot where you will be dropped off or picked up.
• Make sure your child knows the telephone number where you or a guardian can be reached.
• Place your child's name clearly on backpacks and other personal items. Lost and found is located at the Business Services Office on every campus.

myTCC Alerts

If you would like to receive emergency campus alerts, you have the option to sign up to receive these text and/or emails. Once a Colleague ID has been established, look for an automated email in your student's myTCC email account. This email will come from Rave Mobile Safety. Follow the instructions on the myTCC alerts page.

Canceled Classes & Fees

Occasionally, classes fill or are canceled. When this happens, please know we will make every effort to fit your student into an alternative class.

The fee is $200 per half-day session, which is a total of 4 classes. If you choose to register your child in the optional supervised activity period, a.m. or p.m., there is an additional fee of $40 for each period.

Responsibilities of the Student Participant in Activity or Event

Complete a waiver form if your child is enrolled in a class that is participating in a field trip.

Student/participant agrees to read and complete the Release and Waiver of Liability Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (the "Waiver")  (PDF will open in a new window)Listen, maintain a copy for his or her records and return it to the sponsoring faculty/staff prior to the activity set forth in the Waiver.

Transportation  Agreement

Student/Participant understands that they have waived any claims against the Tarrant County College District (the "District") in the event of  accident, injury or death as a result of travel to or from the activity/event.

Student/Participant agrees to meet the sponsoring faculty/staff at designated times and locations for the activity/event. Failure to do so may result in the group's departure without the Student/Participant.

Student/Participant agrees to notify the sponsoring faculty/staff prior to the activity/event if unable to attend.

If a Student/Participant utilizes private transportation to attend an activity/event, that activity/event is deemed to commence upon arrival at the activity/event.

Obtaining Permission to Leave

Student/Participant agrees to obtain permission from the sponsoring faculty/staff in order to leave the activity/event or to embark on a personal side trip that is not activity related.

Unauthorized Participants, Visitors or Guests

Student/Participant is not permitted to invite unauthorized participants, visitors or guests to this activity/event.

Student Conduct

Student/Participant agrees to follow the directions/instructions of the sponsoring faculty/staff while attending the activity/event. Failure to do so may result in the Student/Participant being required to leave the activity/event at his or her own cost.

Student/Participant agrees to comply with the District's  Student Handbook  while attending this activity/event. Disciplinary action may be taken against any student who engages in behavior defined as misconduct.

Student/Participant agrees not to possess or consume alcoholic beverages or illegal substances during this activity (even if age 21 or over) or carry firearms to or during this activity (even if the Student/Participant holds a valid permit to do so).

Behavior Dismissals

Inappropriate behavior or discipline problems will result in dismissal from the program. Refunds will not be given. There is a zero tolerance for any type of bullying (including cyberbullying).

Three Strikes Process

• Strike 1: Instructor makes an attempt to correct the problem
• Strike 2: Camp administrator makes an attempt to correct the problem, and parent is contacted
• Strike 3: Student is dismissed from the program.

Note: This procedure may be changed at the discretion of the College.

Personal Possessions

Student/Participant agrees to be responsible for any personal items brought on or to the activity/event (it is not recommended to bring "valuables").

Parent Tips

Lunch Period

Only students with full-day schedules are allowed on campus during the supervised lunch period. All other students must be picked up after the morning session. No lunch will be provided.

Unsupervised Students

Please make sure your student is not dropped off earlier than 15 minutes before the first class. Students will not be allowed to wait unattended in the gym, library, student center, classrooms, office buildings, or on campus grounds.

TCC campuses are public spaces. Please accompany your children when dropping off and picking up. We do not leave children unattended.

Tired Children

Summer camp can be a long and tiring day, especially for those here all day. Students need a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast. If your student cannot eat before class, please send healthy snacks to eat between classes (e.g. cereal in a zip-lock bag, crackers, fruit, juice box, etc.).

Foot Wear

Blisters and rubbing injuries from rigid or plastic sandals and flip-flops are common as are smashed and cut toes. Please have student wear comfortable sneakers and socks for walking the long distances between classes and buildings. Shoes with wheels should be left at home. We do not recommend students wear flip-flops.
