Am I required to submit residency documentation to receive waived tuition?

Yes. All students must have a residency status on file with TCC. If we are unable to determine your status based on your TCC application, the College may request more documentation.

Your residency status does not determine your tuition rate as a dual credit student, since tuition is waived for dual credit students. However, failure to submit residency documentation may result in registration delays.

Find more information about residency status.

Yes. Tuition is waived for all dual credit courses, regardless of delivery method (i.e. online, face-to-face, hybrid, etc.).

Is tuition waived for summer dual credit courses?

Yes. Effective Fall 2023, tuition is waived for all dual credit courses, regardless of semester offered (i.e. Spring, Summer, Fall, etc.).

Taking Dual Credit Courses

Is there a maximum number of courses I can enroll in per semester?

You can enroll in a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester. Your courses must apply to a certificate, degree, or TCC's Core Curriculum, and have approval for your high school and TCC.

We recommend taking no more than two courses during your first semester.

If I'm not successful in my dual credit course(s), will I have to pay back the waived tuition?

No. You will not be responsible for paying back any waived tuition for your dual credit courses.

Additional Costs and Fees

Are costs for learning materials/textbooks waived?

If you have qualified for free/reduced-price lunch at any public independent school district or public charter school during the last four years, you will receive learning materials/textbooks for your dual credit courses at no cost.

If you do not qualify for free/reduced lunch, or attend a non-public school district or charter, you should speak to your high school administrators about obtaining or paying for learning materials/textbooks.

Are fees for prior-learning assessments (i.e. CLEP, ALEKS, AP, etc.) waived?

No. For any fees not associated with your course enrollment, you are responsible for payment.

Other Questions

I've already paid TCC for my dual credit courses. Will I be reimbursed?

Yes. TCC is currently working to process reimbursements for any dual credit student who has already paid the tuition for their TCC courses.

Will I be able to use dependent veteran benefits as a dual credit student?

No. Since tuition is waived for all dual credit courses, there is no need to use dependent veteran benefits.
