Program Description

Our Pharmacy Technician program will equip you with the skills you need to support licensed pharmacists in various settings, including:

  • Pharmacies
  • Hospitals
  • Retail environments

You will learn the key pharmacy operations that are crucial for providing healthcare to patients, including:

  • Procedures
  • Regulatory standards
  • Effective interpersonal communication

Blended Classes

Our pharmacy technician courses will be delivered in a blended format—combining face-to-face and online lectures.

Credentials in Detail

What is an Occupational Skills Award (OSA)?

When you earn an OSA award, you enhance your marketability.

Employers see you have an OSA and recognize that you are are qualified for entry-level employment or industry-recognized certification or licensure.

The Pharmacy Technician program adheres to the minimum requirements set by the Texas Workforce Commission.

After Successfully Completing Our Program

You may register and directly pay for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) exam through your preferred certification organization:

Both certifications are recognized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Licensing Notice: Texas House Bill 1508

This program prepares you for an occupational license. However, you may not be eligible for licensing if you have a prior criminal history.

Upcoming 2025 Program Dates

Spring 2025

You can get the training you need to become a certified Pharmacy Technician without worrying about costs—thanks to our Biotech Grant.

For the Spring 2025 program, the grant will cover your tuition and textbook fees, so you can focus on your future career.

The classes for this program will be held at the TCC Opportunity Center.

Application Timeline

  • Application opens: February 10
  • Application deadline: February 26
  • Classes begin: March 24
  • Program duration: March 24–August 7

Summer 2025

  • Program duration: July–December 2025

How to Apply

  • New TCC students only
  • Review the Information Session Presentation Slides
  • Download, print, read, and fill out the application
  • Gather the required supporting documents & make copies to submit with your application
    • Copy of your high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
    • Test score(s), if applicable
    • College transcript(s), official or unofficial, to provide proof of exemption from TSI
    • Information session exit ticket
  • Email your completed application & supporting documents to TR.HealthCareAdvising@tccd.edu
  • Register for class
    • Once you have been accepted, you will receive an email that will:
      • Notify you of your eligibility to enroll
      • Explain the registration/payment process
      • Give you financial aid information for continuing education
