If so, Multi-Family Property Maintenance (MFPM) program may be a good fit for you.
Property management companies need trained general maintenance workers to maintain, inspect, and repair multi-family properties.
Job opportunities will likely be readily available in the future as more and more multi-family properties are being built in the DFW Metroplex.
Where can I find a job?
With the skills you learn in our MFPM program, you will be prepared for an entry-level job in a variety of property maintenance settings, such as:
- Apartments
- Duplexes
- Fourplexes
- Freestanding rental residences
How does the program work?
Our MFPM program uses a unit-based training approach.
This means that after you successfully complete a course, you will be able to use those skills in your workplace.
What skills will I learn?
Our program will train you to work in 6 areas.
Below are some example skills and knowledge you will learn in each area.
Building
- Install gypsum board
- Apply wall finishes
- Install flooring
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems
- Understand the heat and refrigerant cycles
- Maintain HVAC systems
- Use and handle refrigerants safely
Electrical Systems
- Understand electrical power distribution systems within a dwelling
- Use electrical test equipment
- Work with electrical systems in HVAC systems and electrical appliances
Plumbing
- Understand plumbing water supply systems
- Understand faucets, fixtures, and drainage systems
Appliances
- Understand fixture, ballast, and driver operation
- Repair common cooking equipment found in dwellings
- Repair home refrigerators: door seals, ice makers, and water solenoid valves

Prepare for What You will Do at Work
With these skills, you will be able to:
- Identify materials needed for repairing and maintaining walls and trim
- Inspect and service components of residential HVAC systems, including thermostats and switches/electrical parts
- Troubleshoot and correct problems in circuits according to current industry standards
- Use plumbing tools and equipment to repair or replace faucets and plumbing fixtures
- Diagnose and repair dryers, washers, and dishwashers
- Listen, speak, read, and write effectively and professionally when on the job, as required by business and industry
