Vocational Nursing by the Numbers
- 2.0: minimum GPA to be eligible to apply
- 75: minimum score on each section of HESI® A2 Admission Exam
- 3: consecutive semesters (12 months) to complete our program
- 40: up to 40 applicants accepted each application period
- $5,500: approximate cost of the program (in-District tuition)
Our Mission
To prepare skilled nurses to deliver quality and safe care in a dynamic health care environment, through patient advocacy and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
How Our Program Works
Time Commitment
You need to commit to full-time schedule for 3 consecutive semesters (12 months).
You must also be able to plan your other coursework around the schedule of core Vocational Nursing (VN) courses.
Part-time, weekend, and distance learning are not available.
Schedule
Program courses and labs are generally held Monday through Thursday between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Clinics are held various days. They may start as early as 6 a.m. and might include afternoon or evening rotations.
Grades
Successful completion of this program requires a grade of “C” or better in all courses.
Cost
Approximately $5,500 (includes tuition, courses, books, immunizations, prerequisites, etc.)
National Licensure Exam: $200
Credential
After successfully completing our program, you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN® (National Council Licensure Examination), which is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
State License
Our Associate Degree in Nursing and Vocational Nursing programs meet the state education requirements for a nursing license in the state of Texas.
TCC has not determined if these nursing programs meet the state education requirements in any other state, any U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia.
