Our Mission
To graduate well-trained, compassionate vascular interventional radiography technologists who can positively impact patient care by demonstrating clinical competency, critical thinking skills, and effective communication.
How Our Program Works
Applicants
The number of applicants we accept is based upon clinical availability.
Are you currently a VIR technologist who can log procedures on your own?
Choose Prior Learning Assessment (PLA): Credit-by-Experience.
This option allows you to:
- Count your procedures while working
- Prepare for the registry
- Earn your Certificate of Completion
If you have a minimum of 6 months in your current employment in interventional radiology (IR) and have 25% of procedures completed, you will receive PLA credit-by-experience and will be given advanced acceptance into the program.
You will take only the didactic courses (15 semester credit hours) to help you pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT) national registry exam.
For details and costs, speak with the program director.
Time Commitment
You need to commit to 3 semesters that include 23 total credit hours and 15–24 clock hours of clinic per week.
Schedule
Class times are currently scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Clinics
Our VIR Program requires a total of 15–24 clock hours of clinic per week per semester.
Our program director arranges clinics—creating and coordinating schedules based upon availability.
If you work at a facility that has agreed to host you in the IR department, confirmation of a current affiliation agreement is required. For more details, please speak with the program director.
Grades
You must earn a minimum grade of “C” (75%) to pass.
You will receive an "F" for any grade earned that is below 75%.
Cost
Approximately $1,587, excluding books and uniforms
