Post-Admission Requirements: Nursing

Attend Nursing Student Orientation

If you are a newly admitted applicant, you must attend Nursing Student Orientation, a 1-day information seminar that will give you information and tips to help you successfully complete the program.

We send you the date, time and location of Nursing Student Orientation in your admission letter.

Attendance of Nursing Student Orientation is mandatory.

Fulfill Additional Requirements

Once you've been accepted into the program, you must also meet the following requirements:

When appropriate, we'll give you information about when, what, and where to do with your additional requirement documentation.

CastleBranchTM

CastleBranchTM is an online system that helps us keep track of your immunization information. You will learn how to use CastleBranchTM when you attend Nursing Student Orientation.

You must submit your documentation of the following to CastleBranchTM:

  • Photo for ID badge
  • Physical exam
  • Tuberculosis screen
  • Required immunizations
  • Seasonal flu vaccine (required before starting the program and annually when it becomes available)
  • CPR certification
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) blue card or letter

Criminal Background Check / Drug Screening

After being accepted to the program, but before classes begin, you must undergo and pass 2 criminal background checks and urine drug screening at your expense. There are no exceptions.

Admission is conditional pending verification of screening results.

Texas Board of Nursing Requirement

An FBI background check and fingerprinting are required for entrance into the program and are conducted after you apply and have been notified that you are accepted to the program or are an alternate.

Purchase Program Supplies

Textbooks

We will give you textbook information at Nursing Student Orientation.

Scrubs

You will buy scrubs uniforms through an approved vendor. Once you are admitted to the program, you will get more information about purchasing scrubs.

Additional Tips

Updating Your Name

Your my.tccd.edu email address is the official method of communication for the TCC nursing program.

It is based on your first and last name. If you need to update your name with the College's records, submit a change of name request to the Registrar's Office. Once your name change is complete, you are issued a new email address.

Updating Additional Personal Information

If you need to update your home address or phone number, make those updates through your user profile in MyTCCTrack.

After you've made the updates in MyTCCTrack, email nursing.department@tccd.edu so the nursing department database can be updated.
