When to Apply
Fall Application Period for Spring Admission
Our Fast-Track program admits new students only once a year—during the fall application period for spring admission.
You must apply during this active Fast-Track Program application period.
See How to Apply to Nursing for the instructions.
Reminder
Admission to TCC does not automatically guarantee admission to the Fast-Track Nursing program.
After being accepted to TCC, you must:
- Meet the selective admission requirements listed below
- Submit a separate program application to Fast-Track Nursing
- All applicants will be ranked based on their program applications.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be:
- Accepted into the TCC Nursing Program.
- Have current certification or licensure as an LVN, paramedic, or military medic
Due to the fast pace of this option, we strongly recommend that you complete all general education course requirements before admission to the program.
Credit-by-Exam
The purpose of this option is to shorten the completion time of the program from 24 to 15 months.
You can earn credit for the following courses through the credit-by-exam / experience process:
- RNSG–1105 Nursing Skills
- RNSG–1360 Clinical—Foundations for Nursing Practice
- RNSG–1413 Foundations for Nursing Practice
We encourage you to study for the exam by using any HESI or NCLEX practice books. During the required orientation, you will receive a test blueprint and study materials.
You must earn a 75% or higher on the exam to be admitted into the Fast Track program.
If you successfully pass the exam, you will have earned a total credit of 9 semester hours. You will be eligible to start the spring semester by taking:
- RNSG–1201 Pharmacology
- RNSG–1441 Common Concepts of Adult Health
- RNSG–1461 Clinical—Registered Nursing / Registered Nurse
If you do not achieve 75%, you will no longer be considered a member of the Fast Track cohort. Instead, you will be included in the traditional Nursing program and begin with RNSG–1413 Foundations for Nursing Practice in the spring semester.
