How to Get PLA Credit: Professional Certifications & Licenses
Apply knowledge and skills you gained by earning professional certifications or licenses toward your degree or certificate program.
We work together in the PLA process:
- You
- Your Advisor
- Your Department (Chair / Dean)
- Your Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA)
- Your campus Testing Services
- District Academic Support Services Office
- You
- Check to see if you are eligible to request PLA credit before beginning the PLA process
- You
- Contact your Department (Chair / Dean) or Advisor for information about professional certifications or licenses
- Submit your valid professional certification or license to your Department (Chair / Dean) or Advisor for review based on the approved course list for professional certifications and licenses
- Department (Chair / Dean) or Advisor
- Verifies your eligibility and reviews your valid professional certification or license based on the approved course list for professional certifications and licenses
- Sends an email to your campus Testing Services to request PLA fee(s) to be posted to your account
- Testing Services
- Posts PLA fee(s)—as requested in Step 3—to your Student Account in MyTCCTrack
- You
- Pay PLA fee(s) to TCC through the Student Account module in MyTCCTrack
- Department (Chair / Dean) or Advisor
- Initiates online PLA process
- Attaches required documentation, including your fee receipt to show proof of payment
- Forwards your PLA request to your campus VPAA for review
- VPAA
- Reviews your PLA request
- Forwards your PLA request to the District Academic Support Services Office
- District Academic Support Services Office
- Verifies that you meet the eligibility requirements
- Applies course(s) to your transcript
- You
- Check My Progress in the Student Planning module of MyTCCTrack to confirm course(s) are posted
