College and Career Ready

Transition to College

This 12 hour, developmental course, designed for new to college students, provides an overview of skills, resources and strategies needed in the transition to college life. You will need to take this course before starting IET or AVA.

Students will 

  • Identify their educational goals, personal strengths, and areas for development. 
  • Become familiar with college resources and services 
  • Explore strategies for academic success such as time management, smart goal setting, study skills and effective note taking skills.

Integrated Education Training (IET)

Our IET short-term classes combine adult education, literacy, workforce training, and preparatory activities. This program is a part of a unique career pathway approach that allows you to become better prepared for the workforce relative to specific in-demand occupational industry job clusters.

Classes are scheduled based on demand. Check with your career pathway navigator for the current scheduled list.

If you do not have your high school diploma you will receive instructions to achieve that goal prior to entering training.

Upon completion of the program, you will earn a recognized industry credential and will be afforded the opportunity to receive stackable credentials within the same career pathway. You may also decide to pursue further education within your career pathway by enrolling into undergraduate courses. 

Adult Vocational Academy

Our Adult Vocational Academy enhances your basic skills and provides vocational training while providing the support you need to achieve your goals. You will have the opportunity to explore various career industries and college education pathways. You must have a high school diploma or GED® for these academies.

Healthcare Academy

  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant
  • Patient Care Technician/Assistant

Information Technology Academy

  • CompTIA A+

Academy Enrollment Criteria

Before enrolling in the academy, you will need to do the following:

  • Be enrolled with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County before starting the academy
  • Take a CASAS assessment and meet the required minimum score
  • Have access to a computer and internet for the duration of the academy
  • Not be currently enrolled in high school or a college or university
  • Not have an advanced degree from the United States (associates, bachelor’s, doctorate degrees)

It is important that you commit to the program schedule and attend all class sessions.
