Updates

July 29, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

What seemed almost impossible six months ago will soon be complete. With the full support of our Chancellor, the Strategic Plan Advisory Team and our consultant, MGT, we'll share our multiyear framework with the TCCD Board of Trustees in September.

Trailblazing Together: 2030 is a transformative document with undeniable economic impact. Reflecting Texas House Bill 8, it guides what we do and how we do it to enrich the student and employee experience, generate more credentials of value and position Tarrant County College as a role model for comprehensive two-year institutions nationwide.

Measurable goals reflect the state's emphasis on degree completion, dual credit opportunities, workforce alignment, high-demand careers and university transfers.

To recap the seven-part plan development process:

Phase 1 involved an initial meeting with MGT to outline timelines and work scope. An environmental scan (Phase 2) was followed by a mission, vision, values and strategic priorities review (Phase 3), community engagement (Phase 4) and future envisioning (Phase 5).

The environmental scan clarified what may drive and, alternately, deter the plan. It also revealed opportunities in programming and partnerships and identified potential new target audiences. Trustees shared thoughts on the College's mission, vision and values with MGT at a March work session. Catch that interactive discussion in item 7a of the Chancellor's Report.

Community engagement included individual meetings, focus groups and a survey questionnaire, and it captured unique views from students, employees and community and business partners. Those perspectives, data from the first three phases, feedback from the Chancellor's student/employee forums, and the spring 2024 student survey inform our plan (Phase 6).

As key performance indicators and an implementation schedule are finalized (Phase 7), we will begin integrating Trailblazing Together: 2030 into our College plans and operations.

None of this would be possible without the effort invested by you, our students, faculty, staff and community partners. Together we stand ready to blaze a path that will propel our amazing institution to a more vibrant, eventful future. And we do it grounded in the belief that tomorrow is ours to create.

March on. It's what Tarrant County College Trailblazers do.

Dear Colleagues,

Hard to believe we're almost halfway through our six-month strategic plan development process. Phase 4—personal interviews with our consultant, focus group participation and the anonymous online survey—is complete.

Thank you for taking time during one of Tarrant County College's busiest spring semesters to get involved. Your thoughts on our strengths, challenges and aspirations are vital to position us as the top comprehensive two-year institution in the country.

With your help, we're creating a platform to explore what's important for the College and what makes TCC successful, as well as what will strengthen our commitment to innovative teaching and learning and community engagement.

MGT, our consultant, will facilitate a Future Envisioning discussion (Phase 5) later this month with the Strategic Plan Advisory Team and the Chancellor's Integrated Planning Team. We'll use all of the data from the first four phases, feedback from Chancellor LeBlanc's recent student/employee forums, and the spring 2024 student survey to define our top priorities, goals, vision and core values.

This is the most exciting phase of the process. And it would not be possible without the effort invested by you, our students, faculty, staff and community partners.

We'll present the TCC Board of Trustees with a draft of our multiyear blueprint in June. Then we get busy crafting an implementation plan and determining key performance indicators (KPIs) for assessment. The trustees will be presented with the final roadmap in August, then we begin integrating our strategic plan with other College plans — academic, technology, communications, facilities, among others.

All seven phases of our strategic plan development are on our strategic plan website, and we will continue to update the TCC community throughout the summer.

Don't hesitate to contact either of us with questions or ideas.

Together we will advance our future!

Dear TCC Community,

We're seeing steady progress—30 days' worth so far—in our six-month planning process to position our standing as the best comprehensive community college in the nation. Lots of great work has been accomplished. Still, there's much to come, including an opportunity for Tarrant County College employees, students and partners to share thoughts and ideas in an April survey.

With the full support of our chancellor, the Strategic Plan Advisory Team, and our consultant MGT, we're on target to present this multiyear blueprint to the TCC Board of Trustees in August. Phase 1 of the seven-part process—timelines, work scope, communications plan, and initial MGT meeting—is complete, and the next three phases are underway.

All seven phases are on our Strategic Plan webpage, and we will regularly update the TCC community. Keeping you informed delivers on our promise of a transparent effort that fully involves students, faculty, staff and partners.

Trustees shared thoughts on the College's mission, vision and values with MGT at their March work session. Catch that interactive discussion online (7a of the Chancellor's Report). And MGT's full review of studies by Lightcast (our labor market analytics partner) along with enrollment, operations, communications, facilities and financial reports should conclude by month's end to help build a bridge from where we are now to where we aspire to be.

One-on-one MGT interviews with TCC faculty and staff took place the first week of March, and 15 focus groups of students, employees, partners and TCC Foundation board members are happening now through mid-April.

The Strategic Plan Advisory Team, in collaboration with MGT, developed criteria for selecting a diverse group of interview and focus group participants from varied departments and partnerships to articulate the College's strengths, challenges and aspirations.

Watch for more updates as this exciting work progresses.

Together we will advance our future!
